Online QR Code Generator

The online QR code generator lets you create a permanent static QR code in seconds for a link, text, Wi-Fi network, email address, phone number, SMS message, or vCard contact. Simply choose the required data type, fill in the fields, and download the finished code as a PNG image or vector SVG file without registration or installing additional software.

Enter data to create a QR code.

Your data stays in this browser and is not sent to an external QR service.

  • QR codes are generated locally in your browser.
  • Before publishing or printing, scan the finished QR code with a phone.
  • For print, SVG or a high-resolution PNG is preferable.
  • Keep strong contrast between the QR code and its background.
  • For longer data, a higher error-correction level can improve resilience but makes the code denser.

What types of QR codes can you create?

The tool supports 6 common data formats that can be recognized by the built-in camera apps on most modern iOS and Android smartphones without requiring a separate QR scanner:

Link (URL) or plain text

A classic option for a website, online menu, social media profile such as Instagram, Telegram, or YouTube, a Google Forms form, or any other link that needs to be used frequently or in multiple places.

Wi-Fi network access

You can encode the network name (SSID), password, and security type such as WPA/WPA2, WEP, or an open network. Guests in your office, cafe, hotel, or home can simply point their smartphone camera at the printed QR code to connect to Wi-Fi without manually entering a complex password. You have probably seen this used many times already.

Digital business card (vCard)

A complete digital contact card can contain:

  • first and last name;
  • company or organization name and job title;
  • phone number and email address;
  • a link to the official website.

When this type of QR code is scanned, the smartphone can immediately offer to save the complete contact to the address book. This is a convenient solution for printed business cards, conference badges, and company materials.

Phone number, SMS, and email

  • Phone: opens the call screen with the phone number already entered.
  • SMS: creates a ready-to-send SMS message for the specified number.
  • Email: automatically opens the email app with the recipient address, subject, and message text already filled in.

Benefits of generating QR codes locally

Some online services generate codes on their own servers or replace your direct link with an intermediate redirect. In some cases, continued use of that redirect may later require a paid subscription. This tool works differently:

  • No expiration for static QR codes: all information is encoded directly into the QR pattern without redirect services or link shorteners. The QR code itself does not expire and will continue to work as long as the encoded information, website, or contact details remain valid.
  • 100% local processing in your browser: generation takes place directly on your device using JavaScript. Wi-Fi passwords, phone numbers, vCard contacts, and internal links are not sent to the server and are not stored.
  • Instant copying and vector export: you can download the file or use the “Copy QR” button and then paste the image with Ctrl+V into a graphics editor, Word document, presentation, messenger, or another application.

Which format should you choose: PNG or vector SVG?

Choose the download format depending on where you plan to use the generated QR code:

FeaturePNG format (Raster)SVG format (Vector)
Best suited forWebsites, social media, messengers, emails, and presentations.Printing and layouts of virtually any size, including business cards, stickers, menus, banners, product packaging, and web design.
ScalingMay lose sharpness when enlarged significantly.Can be scaled to almost any size without losing sharpness.
Editing in design softwareA finished image made of fixed pixels.Can be opened and edited as vector shapes in Figma, Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW, and other compatible editors.

Design settings and error correction level

In the “QR Settings” tab, you can adjust the appearance and technical reliability of the code for your particular task:

  1. Code and background colors: replace the standard black-and-white appearance with your brand colors. The main rule is to keep the QR modules darker than the background and maintain strong contrast. Low contrast can make the code more difficult for smartphone cameras to scan, especially in poor lighting.
  2. Error Correction Level: the QR code standard includes redundant data so that the code can still be read when part of it is damaged, dirty, or distorted:
    • L (Low – about 7%): the lowest redundancy level. It produces a less dense pattern and can be useful for long URLs or when space is limited.
    • M (Medium – about 15%): a good balance between density and reliability and a suitable choice for most everyday tasks.
    • Q (Quartile – about 25%): increased error correction for printed materials and use in environments where the code may be partially damaged.
    • H (High – about 30%): the highest available error correction level. It provides greater resistance to partial damage but produces a denser QR pattern.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Do generated QR codes have an expiration date or scan limit?

No. The generator creates direct static QR codes. The QR code itself does not expire and there is no limit on the number of scans. It will continue to work as long as the encoded information, link, or contact details remain valid.

Is it safe to create a QR code with my home or office Wi-Fi password?

Yes. The entire generation process takes place locally in your browser. Passwords, phone numbers, and personal data entered into the generator are not sent over the internet to external servers.

Which format is better for printing on business cards or flyers?

SVG is recommended for most printing and design work. It is a vector format that keeps the edges of the QR code sharp when the image is scaled in a print layout.

Why might a phone camera fail to scan a colored QR code?

The most common reason is insufficient contrast between the QR code and its background or reversed colors, such as a light code on a dark background. Use a dark, saturated color for the QR modules and a light background, and always test the code with a smartphone camera before sending a print job to production.

Why does a vCard QR code look denser than a QR code for a regular link?

The density and size of the modules in a QR code depend directly on the amount of encoded data. A vCard can include a name, job title, phone number, email address, and website, so more characters need to be stored in the matrix. For data-heavy QR codes, it may help to use a lower or medium error correction level such as L or M and avoid printing the code too small.
